Based on the life of Late Professor Siraj, Aligarh, a beautiful queer film made by Hansal Mehta starring Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkummar Rao, hits the question of LGBTQI+ freedom in Indian society. We delve into the life of a professor in Aligarh who is persecuted for his sexual orientation to such an extent that it costs his life. Siraj is one of the many we have lost to homophobia. This edit, blended with a painting of a “blasphemer”, comments on that haunting reality.
